Seriously, heart being in the right place n all that, amateur camcorder footage of Vernon lectures would have been made available non-commercially. 

But no, this way they can get people to spend 200 quid on a few grainy, shaky, jittery, incomplete home movies.

This question has been tackled by fellows more worthy than I and, almost universally, those in the know have tended towards conciseness (cageyness even) in their replies: no, it is not outdated and it remains the best book ever written on the subject.

The basic idea is that, to give the procedure a real spontaneous and unstructured feel, you can introduce the concept of the trick that can't be explained.

Depending on the choices made by the spectator, you can spontaneously alter the procedure.
