Strong Magic

Richard Kaufman says it's tripe.

Although Mr Ortiz may not be my my favorite person in terms of what he tends to publish, and despite the fact that some other people I respect seem to slate Strong Magic, I have no hesitation in recommending it as one of the best reads in magic.

If you trust the mule, read Strong Magic!

Do you recommend his book Designing Miracles as highly? Any thoughts to share on it?

hmmm... if it has the Mule's recommendation I must read it.. by the way I do feel that mr. ortiz's style of working is too ``closed". he tends to work too close to his body and does not seem as confident as forte ... any comments on that ?

I couldn't agree more with you, Mule. Strong Magic is an excellent work.

Darwin Ortiz is in my opinion an extremely stiff and unnatural performer. He basically represents the opposite of my personal views on how sleight of hand should look.

Having said that, I have only seen his instructional videos intended for magicians and would be willing to entertain the idea that they do not adequately reflect his true performing style. As is the case with the Tamariz videos.

I have not read Designing Miracles but if Strong Magic is any indication then I'm assuming it's worth a read.
